Why prices may vary between booking channels
• BOOK ONLINE ON OUR WEBSITE: The best price guaranteed.
• PHONE BOOKING: For those who prefer step-by-step support, the flexible rate is €10.00 higher, as it requires more processing time and dedicated assistance from hotel staff.
• OTAs (Booking, Expedia, etc.): Rates are higher (around 20% more) because they include commission costs and the platform’s service (search, booking, support) to assist those making a booking.
For people looking for a hotel in a particular destination, OTAs are a commodity: a one-stop shop where they can compare options, read ratings/reviews, find information, and book quickly without having to do a ton of research online.
A service like this can’t be free, and it can’t be a burden on the hotel either: that’s why the commission needs to be “priced in” on the OTA channel.
Here’s what the price difference means: the rate on OTAs is higher, while the best rate is available on the official website, where that cost is not included.
Prices change. Here’s why.
Anyone who travels knows this: the price of a hotel room is never fixed.
The same goes for a flight, a train ticket, or a table at a restaurant on a Saturday night.
This is not an anomaly: it’s the very nature of a product that cannot be stored in a warehouse.
A room that isn’t booked tonight won’t be available again tomorrow.
It disappears. That’s why prices change based on demand, the time of year, and how close the check-in date is.
Those who book early get better rates.
Those who wait until the last minute risk finding higher prices or no availability at all.
What should never be opaque
In recent years, many pricing systems, especially on digital platforms, have become more sophisticated.
Algorithms can adjust rates based on the type of device used, geographic location, or browsing habits.
Two people searching for the same room at the same time may see different prices without knowing why.
That’s not how it works at Hotel Annunziata.
Our approach is simple and transparent.
Our prices vary for clear reasons:
the season and demand
occupancy rate
the type of rate chosen
the booking channel
That’s it. We don’t use individual profiling systems to adjust our prices.
We don’t change our rates based on who you are or how you found us.
If two guests book the same room at the same time on the same day, they will pay the same price.
There is a difference between the channels, and we explain it in detail above, but it is a structural difference, not a personal one. It’s the cost of a service, not an estimate of how much you’re willing to spend.
Transparency isn’t just a slogan.
We believe that an informed guest is a guest who makes good choices and who comes back.
That’s why every price change has a name and a reason.
No surprises at check-out.
No hidden fees. Just clear rules, written down before you make your decision.
